About
THE JOB OPENING
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE SPECIALIST TO JOIN OUR TEAM
At Yonderland we are modernizing our analytics stack.
This role bridges our data engineering team (building datasets in Snowflake), our product BI specialists (who translate business needs into analytics), and data architects who design how information flows.
You'll establish standards for how we build, structure, and present data in Power BI; collaborate with architects and engineers to ensure datasets are well-designed for analytical use; mentor teams on BI best practices; and oversee the quality, consistency, and usability of our reporting environment as we scale.
YOU WILL
Collaborate with data architects and data engineers to design and implement data modeling solutions that ensure datasets are well-structured for analytical use and support enterprise information management
Work with the data engineering team to ensure Snowflake datasets are structured and exposed in Power BI in ways that support clear, performant, and easy-to-use reporting
Establish and document standards for how we build, organize, and present analytics in Power BI—naming conventions, data model patterns, DAX practices, report design guidelines—ensuring consistency across the organization
Be responsible for overseeing the quality, consistency, and optimization of data models and reports; ensure they adhere to best practices for scalability, security, and maintainability
Support data engineers and architects how to think about Power BI data models, DAX measures, and reporting semantics so they build datasets with BI in mind
Help product BI specialists transition their analytics expertise to Power BI; mentor them on data modeling, Power BI-specific approaches, and how to structure reports for self-service
Build reference templates and example reports that demonstrate best practices; use these as teaching tools for engineering, architecture, and BI teams
Review reports and data models built by others; provide feedback to improve consistency, performance, and usability
Help business teams understand the new Power BI environment and build self-service reports following established standards
Support the establishment and operationalization of a semantic layer on top of our analytics datasets, making it consumable and available for real business use
YOU HAVE
3+ years of Power BI experience — Building data models, reports, and dashboards in production Power BI environments
Strong Power BI modeling and DAX expertise — Proficiency in designing efficient data models, writing DAX measures and calculations, optimizing for performance, understanding different modeling patterns
Data warehousing and dimensional modeling knowledge — Understanding of star and snowflake schema design, fact and dimension tables, and how to structure data for analytical use
SQL proficiency — Comfortable writing and understanding SQL; able to discuss data optimization and structure with data engineers
Understanding of BI concepts, semantics, and data architecture — Experience with OLAP, cube-based systems, or semantic layers; ability to assess data structure quality and explain why design decisions matter for reporting and analytics; understanding of dimensional modeling and data governance principles
Teaching and mentoring ability — Experience helping others learn BI tools and concepts; comfortable explaining technical approaches in clear language; able to write standards and best practice documentation
Some data engineering familiarity —Understanding of Python, dbt, or ETL concepts; comfortable working with data teams; understanding of how data flows from source systems through a data warehouse
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business analytics, or a similar field (or equivalent professional experience)
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with OLAP systems, cube-based analytics, or other BI platforms
ETL Development in modern stacks (dbt, Snowflake, Airflow)
Data governance and standards experience
Retail, e-commerce, or supply chain analytics background
