Submissions until January 26th, 2026 Clinical/Forensic Psychologist Location Portugal, with the possibility to work remotely To reinforce our team and support IPS Innovative Prison Systems’ growth, we are recruiting a Clinical/Forensic Psychologist to join the Unit for Risk Prevention & Criminogenic Intervention, within the Rehabilitation, Reintegration & Community Portfolio. .) is a boutique research, IT development and advisory firm specialized in the field of justice, prison services, community sanctions and measures, juvenile justice, and law enforcement.

Through our research, advisory services, and digital products, under the umbrella of one all-embracing integrated strategy, we develop and promote fair, effective, and proportionate evidence-based responses to criminal justice issues and challenges worldwide.

Job Description The Rehabilitation, Reintegration & Community Portfolio at IPS focuses on risk prevention, criminogenic interventions, rehabilitation, and reintegration strategies grounded in international standards, scientific evidence, and best practices.

Within this Portfolio, the Risk Prevention & Criminogenic Intervention (RPCI) Unit supports evidence-based initiatives in community crime safety and awareness, victimisation prevention, primary violence and crime deterrence, RNR assessment and management, and criminogenic skills and competency development.

Overall, the Clinical / Forensic Psychologist will contribute to international projects focused on offender assessment, criminogenic intervention, rehabilitation, and community-based supervision, working closely with multidisciplinary teams in correctional and juvenile justice contexts.

This position is well suited for a professional with strong applied experience, combined with an interest in research, consulting, training, and international cooperation.

Key Responsibilities - Contributing to the design, implementation, and evaluation of criminogenic intervention and rehabilitation programmes in custodial and community settings;

  • Supporting the application and adaptation of risk and needs assessment instruments, including structured professional judgment tools and actuarial instruments;
  • Applying and operationalising the Risk-Need-Responsivity (RNR) model in offender case management frameworks, including assessment, intervention planning, monitoring, and review;
  • Supporting projects in correctional services, probation, and juvenile justice systems, including institutional and community-based contexts;
  • Contributing to research, technical reports, guidelines, and policy documents;
  • Supporting capacity-building, training, and technical assistance activities for justice professionals;
  • Participating in international consulting assignments, including field missions, workshops, and stakeholder engagement;
  • Collaborating with IPS digital teams on the integration of clinical and criminological methodologies into offender management systems.

Qualifications - Education/Qualification: A degree in Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Criminology, or a related field.

A Master’s degree in a relevant or closely related area.

  • Professional Experience: At least 3 years of professional work experience, with demonstrated experience working in correctional services and/or juvenile justice settings.
  • Other: Excellent command (at least C1 level) of English and Portuguese (both written and spoken).
  • Technical Skills: Proven experience in criminogenic intervention and rehabilitation, offender management and case management, the use of risk and needs assessment instruments, and the application of the Risk-Need-Responsivity (RNR) model.
  • Behavioural Competencies: Unimpeachable work ethic (incl. personal and professional integrity); Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and maintain high professional standards.
  • Mobility and Availability: Availability to travel internationally and work in different countries as required by project needs; Flexibility to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments; Ability to commence employment promptly is highly desirable.

Advantage conferring requirements: The following will be considered strong assets: - Experience in research, consulting, and/or training assignments;

  • Experience working on international or multi-jurisdictional projects;
  • Familiarity with evidence-based intervention programmes (e.g. cognitive-behavioural approaches);
  • Experience in community corrections, probation, or post-release supervision;
  • Knowledge of international standards, guidelines, and cultural dynamics in correctional rehabilitation and juvenile justice (understanding or experience in Brazilian contexts is especially desirable);
  • Additional language skills (Spanish or French).
