Head of Engineering

Randstad Digital is currently searching for a talented Head of Engineering to join the team of one of our prestigious clients.The Head of Engineering is responsible for leading, scaling, and continuously improving the engineering function.

This role combines technical leadership, people management, and strategic execution, ensuring that engineering teams deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions aligned with business objectives.

The Head of Engineering will foster a strong engineering culture, drive best practices, and collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, and other stakeholders to deliver impactful outcomes.

Leadership & Strategy:Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with the ;Partner with Product and Leadership teams to translate business needs into technical solutions;Provide technical guidance and decision-making at both strategic and architectural levels;Champion engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement;Team Management & Development:Lead, mentor, and grow high-performing engineering teams (backend, frontend, mobile, DevOps, QA, etc.);Build a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, collaboration, and accountability.;Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and career development;Ensure teams are well-structured, motivated, and equipped to scale effectively.Delivery & Execution:Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of engineering initiatives;Establish and maintain engineering processes, standards, and best practices (Agile, CI/CD, code reviews, testing);Balance speed of delivery with technical quality and long-term maintainability;Identify and mitigate technical risks and dependencies.Architecture & Technical Excellence:Own the overall system architecture and ensure it is scalable, secure, and reliable;Drive technical decisions related to platforms, frameworks, tooling, and infrastructure;Ensure best practices in security, performance, reliability, and compliance.;Promote automation, observability, and operational excellence.Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:Act as a key interface between Engineering and other departments;Communicate progress, challenges, and risks clearly to senior stakeholders;Support cross-functional alignment and effective decision-making.

Required Skills & Experience:Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role (Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, or similar);Strong technical background with hands-on experience in modern software development;Experience leading and scaling engineering teams in fast-paced environments;Solid understanding of software architecture, cloud infrastructure, and modern development practices;Demonstrated ability to balance technical depth with people leadership;Experience working closely with Product and business stakeholders;Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.Nice to Have:Experience in SaaS, e-commerce, fintech, or high-scale platforms;Experience managing distributed or international teams;Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and vendor management;Passion for mentoring and building inclusive engineering cultures.
