Join the yellow team as our new Lead Java Backend Developer!
Role:
We are seeking a Lead Java Backend Developer with strong expertise in core Java (Java 8 and above) and Spring Boot.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about building scalable, high-performance backend systems and have solid experience in writing clean, testable code.
You will work on backend services that power mission-critical applications, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and maintainable software solutions.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java (8 or higher) and Spring Boot.
Collaborate with frontend, QA, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless delivery of software solutions.
Write unit and integration tests to maintain high code quality.
Optimize and scale backend systems for performance and reliability.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
Stay up to date with advancements in the Java ecosystem and proactively suggest improvements.
Requirements:
15+ years of professional experience in Java backend development.
Strong hands-on experience with Java 8 or higher (Java 11/17 preferred).
Proven expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and RESTful API design.
Sound understanding of object-oriented programming, concurrency, and data structures.
Experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
Experience with Maven or Gradle for build management.
Proficiency in Git and understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
Nice to have:
Exposure to Kotlin or willingness to learn.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience in Agile/Scrum development environments.
Important Information:
Hybrid work model: needs to work at the office 2 or 3 times per week in Lisbon.
Must be based in Portugal and hold valid work authorization.
No relocation or sponsorship is available for this role.
A background check will be conducted upon successful completion of the interview process.
