Unleash the Power of Automation — Shape the Future of Infrastructure Excellence
Porto or Lisbon — hybrid work model (up to 3 remote days per week)
As a Mid-Level Automation Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading innovator in IT infrastructure management and automation solutions.
You’ll be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge automation processes within a predominantly Windows environment, driving efficiency, reliability, and scalability across enterprise systems.
Join us to elevate operational standards and unlock new levels of technological performance.
Your main responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and inventories to automate Windows (and Linux where applicable) server provisioning and configuration, ensuring strict idempotence and standardization.
Modernize existing PowerShell scripts by refactoring or migrating them to Ansible and Python to enhance maintainability, reusability, and adherence to DevOps best practices.
Integrate infrastructure automation into the CI/CD pipeline using tools such as Bitbucket, JFrog Artifactory, Jenkins, XL‑Deploy, and XL‑Release to enable automated, repeatable deployments.
Contribute to and support the migration from VTOM to Control‑M by understanding job chains, rewriting automation, and ensuring seamless integration and robustness.
Utilize ServiceNow and Jira for operational governance, managing incidents, problems, changes, and ensuring traceability across code changes, deployments, and production events.
Support performance and capacity initiatives by executing and analyzing performance tests with NeoLoad and k6, collaborating with teams to optimize infrastructure and applications.
Participate in major technology transitions such as migrating from RabbitMQ to Kafka and introducing Redis for caching, automating provisioning and configuration processes.
Enhance platform observability and reliability through Grafana, Zabbix, ELK, and AppDynamics, integrating health checks, smoke tests, and post-deployment validations.
Manage credentials securely with CyberArk/Conjur, ensuring automation consumes secrets in a controlled and compliant manner.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation—including standards, runbooks, architecture diagrams—supporting consistent operational practices.
Work collaboratively in an international, cross-functional environment, communicating effectively in English at B2 level or higher, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
You're ideal for this role if you have:
At least 5 years of experience in infrastructure automation and scripting
Strong expertise in Ansible, PowerShell, and Python
Solid background working within Windows environments and automation tools
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and related tools (Bitbucket, Jenkins, XL‑Deploy, XL‑Release)
Knowledge of enterprise monitoring and observability platforms (Grafana, Zabbix, ELK, AppDynamics)
Hands-on experience with messaging platforms (RabbitMQ, Kafka) and caching solutions (Redis)
Ability to operate in an international setting with excellent communication skills in English
It is a strong plus if you have:
Certifications in DevOps, Automation, or Cloud (e.g., AWS, Azure)
Experience with CyberArk/Conjur for secret management
Knowledge of containerization or orchestration technologies
Language Required for the role:
Fluent English — excellent communication skills required for technical documentation, meetings, and collaboration
Eligibility for the role:
Only candidates with an existing legal right to work in the European Union will be considered for this role.
