IPN

Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) is a non-profit private organization founded in 1991 and based in Coimbra.

IPN promotes innovation and technology transfer, being the main link between the University of Coimbra and the business sector.

IPN operates in three complementary areas: Incubation and acceleration of technology-based enterprises; Research and technological development; Highly specialized training.

Recently, the IPN Incubator was distinguished by UBI Global as one of the 10 best university business incubators in the world.

The Laboratory for Informatics and Systems (IPN LIS) is one of the labs of research and technological development of IPN.

It brings together a wide set of competencies and expertise in several areas of Information and Communication Technologies which are applied and used to support initiatives for technology transfer towards industry and public bodies.

About

the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Artificial Intelligence Engineer to join the IPN LIS team.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in AI projects.

We are seeking someone with a natural aptitude for solving complex problems and a proven track record in researching and developing cutting-edge AI solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of complex Machine Learning systems using classical Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision and GenAI
  • Contributing to the research and experimentation of new Machine Learning models and algorithms
  • Collaborating with development teams to integrate and deploy AI solutions into the laboratory’s projects

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in the development and implementation of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning systems
  • Advanced knowledge of deep learning frameworks (Pytorch, Tensorflow, ...)
  • Ability to lead complex, multidisciplinary projects
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to drive innovation and knowledge sharing internally
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese
