The Distributed Systems & Detection Engineer (Senior Backend/Data Engineer) is responsible for the design, construction, and optimization of the core detection engine.

They possess a deep understanding of distributed computation and are capable of building reliable, maintainable systems that operate predictably under real-world conditions.

Key Responsibilities ~

• Design, build, and optimize the core detection engine responsible for evaluating large-scale financial data.
• Implement system-level thinking to understand how components interact across data, compute, and operations.
• Execute detection logic and compute behaviors within high-performance, deterministic pipelines.
• Drive engineering outcomes across design, implementation, and operations with full ownership and accountability.
• Utilize design docs and architectural debates to ensure clear, documented decisions before implementation.
• Debug real-world systems and maintain operational awareness across multiple technology stacks.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Distributed Systems & Computation: Deep understanding of distributed computation, data pipelines, and cloud-native architectures.
• Mathematical & Algorithmic Complexity: Ability to reason mathematically about system performance and algorithmic complexity.
• Large-Scale Analytics: Hands-on experience with high-volume data processing engines such as Spark, Iceberg, and Trino.
• Architecture & Design: Proficiency in data modeling, production-grade API design, and event-driven/message-oriented systems.
• Pragmatic Engineering: A focus on engineering fundamentals and versatility, choosing technologies that solve real problems.
• Tech Stack Adaptability: Ability to navigate environments including Azure, AKS, Redis, and Keycloak, while learning and adapting to new tools quickly.
