The Backend & Reliability Engineer (Senior Software Engineer) operates across legacy boundaries, focusing on backend services, API design, and integration layers.

They prioritize engineering fundamentals and system thinking to create reliable, production-grade systems that operate predictably under real-world conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Design and build performant, resilient backend services and integration layers.
Lead architectural decisions through design docs and documented technical debates before implementation.
Bridge the gap between application and infrastructure layers to ensure system-level reliability.
Drive outcomes across the entire lifecycle, including design, implementation, and production operations.
Maintain and optimize production-grade APIs while ensuring high service availability.
Debug real-world systems and improve operational awareness through better observability.

Required Skills & Competencies

Engineering Fundamentals: Strong foundations in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and performance engineering.
API & Service Design: Expertise in designing production-grade APIs and ensuring long-term service reliability.
System-Level Thinking: Ability to understand complex interactions between data, compute, and operations.
Observability & Debugging: Deep understanding of distributed service interactions and experience operating production systems.
Versatility: Ability to work across multiple technology stacks (such as Azure, AKS, Redis, and Keycloak) and adapt to evolving tools.
Data & Messaging: Knowledge of data modeling, high-volume data processing, and event-driven/message-oriented systems.
