Were hiring GCP Operations & Maintenance Support Engineer

Were recruiting a GCP Operations & Maintenance Support Engineer to join the Cloud Operations area of a leading organization.

In this role, you will ensure the operation, maintenance, reliability and continuous improvement of workloads running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), guaranteeing high availability, security and compliance.

Remote in Portugal

Direct contract with the client

What you will be doing - Configure and manage Cloud Monitoring, Logging and alerting for GCP resources and Kubernetes clusters

  • Maintain operational dashboards and ensure SLO/SLI compliance
  • Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions
  • Perform OS patching, VM lifecycle management and GKE cluster upgrades
  • Manage IAM roles, policies and implement leastprivilege best practices
  • Monitor and optimize cloud costs using GCP billing tools
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and create automation scripts with Python/Bash
  • Support CI/CD pipelines for configuration and deployment automation
  • Maintain runbooks, SOPs and compliance documentation
  • Collaborate with application, security and network teams
  • Participate in oncall rotations and approved change windows

What we are looking for - 5 years of experience in Cloud Operations, System Administration or SRE roles

  • At least 3 years managing GCP production environments
  • Handson experience with Compute Engine, GKE, VPC networking, Cloud Storage and IAM
  • Strong understanding of observability, monitoring tools and performance tuning
  • Proficiency with Terraform, Python and Bash
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, problem, change)
  • Excellent communication, documentation and stakeholderfacing skills

Nice to have - Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or DevOps Engineer certification

  • Kubernetes certifications (CKA / CKS)
  • ITIL Foundation

Ways of working - Support window 85 coverage

  • Change Management aligned with CAB processes and formal change windows
  • Accurate maintenance of runbooks and audit evidence

Success metrics - High availability and SLO compliance

  • Reduced MTTR and improved incident response
  • Cost optimization and security compliance
  • Audit readiness and governance reporting
